The 2025 edition of the Vide-Grenier de Septèmes-les-Vallons was held on May 1st in this commune nestled between the Massif de l'Étoile and the Vitrolles range, about ten kilometers north of Marseille. Individuals and families gathered for a day of friendly bargain hunting in this town with a rich industrial past, marked by its old tile factories and picturesque valleys. Bargain hunters were able to find great finds while enjoying the warm atmosphere of this commune that saw Zinédine Zidane and Samir Nasri grow up.
On May 1st, 2025, the Vide-Grenier de Septèmes-les-Vallons brought together residents and visitors in this historic commune of the Bouches-du-Rhône, whose name dates back to the seventh Roman milestone on the road connecting Marseille to Aix-en-Provence. The stalls of individuals offered bargain hunters a good variety of items: Provençal tableware and earthenware, old books, clothing for the whole family, toys, decorative knick-knacks, and small furniture.
The setting of Septèmes-les-Vallons, between the four characteristic valleys of the commune — Fréguières, Notre-Dame, La Barre du Fer, and La Femme Morte — and the foothills of the Massif de l'Étoile, offered a pleasant natural backdrop for this day of strolling. Heritage enthusiasts could discover nearby the impressive brick crawling chimneys of the Vallons du Maire and des Fabriques, remnants of 19th-century industrial facilities classified Natura 2000, testifying to the prosperous era of tile factories and chemical plants.
The family-friendly and relaxed atmosphere of this May 1st car boot sale confirmed the attachment of the Septémois to this popular tradition, in a commune that cultivates its roots while looking to the future, as evidenced by the transformation of an old factory into a media library.
