Every June, the Association du Quartier Saint-Eutrope (AQuaSE) organizes its annual car boot sale on the parvis and around the Basilica Saint-Eutrope, one of Saintes' most emblematic monuments. This historic district, located on a hill south of the city center, offers a picturesque and historically rich setting for a day of open-air treasure hunting.

A UNESCO-Listed Heritage Setting

The Basilica Saint-Eutrope, founded in the 11th century by Duke William V of Aquitaine, is a UNESCO World Heritage site on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage routes. Its monumental crypt, one of the largest in France, houses the tomb of Saint Eutropius, the first bishop of Saintes, martyred in the 3rd century. Hunting for treasures on the parvis of this ancient monument gives the car boot sale a unique atmosphere, combining the pleasure of discovering old objects with the contemplation of a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture.

A Human-Scale Neighborhood Event

The car boot sale in the Saint-Eutrope district brings together between 50 and 100 private exhibitors exclusively, ensuring an authentic car boot sale offering: toys, books, tableware, trinkets, small decorative items, and everyday objects at low prices. The registration fee is 5 euros for 2 linear meters, then 2 euros per additional meter. Registration is done via an online form before the Friday preceding the event.

Catering and Festive Atmosphere

A food truck is present on-site to offer food and drinks throughout the day. The warm and family-friendly neighborhood atmosphere makes this car boot sale a cherished moment of sharing for the residents of the Saint-Eutrope district and all the people of Saintes. Children have fun between the stalls while parents search for hidden treasures.
