Nestled in the heart of the Minervois, between vineyards and garrigue, the village of Peyriac-Minervois organizes a highly anticipated annual car boot sale for the residents of the canton and passing bargain hunters. This summer event has become a true institution in this corner of the Aude department.

A Wine-Growing Village Steeped in History

Peyriac-Minervois is one of the most picturesque communes in the Minervois, a wine-growing region renowned for its powerful red wines and golden garrigue landscapes. The medieval village, with its narrow streets and Romanesque church, offers an incomparable setting for this popular event. On the day of the car boot sale, the streets and squares come alive from dawn, transforming the village into a vast open-air market.

Bargain Hunters and Sellers Gather

Each year, the car boot sale brings together dozens of individual exhibitors from Peyriac and surrounding villages — Rieux-Minervois, Azillanet, La Livinière, Caunes-Minervois — to offer a wide variety of second-hand items. Furniture, crockery, clothing, books, antique toys, vinyl records, trinkets, and curiosities of all kinds are displayed on trestles and tarpaulins laid on the ground. Visitors can stroll at their own pace, negotiate, and leave with real treasures at low prices.

An Authentic Southern Atmosphere

What characterizes the Peyriac-Minervois car boot sale is above all its friendly, southern atmosphere. Local volunteers run a refreshment stand and sometimes offer light catering, allowing visitors to pleasantly extend their morning in the relative coolness of the shaded streets. Children accompany their parents, elders chat on the village square benches, and passing tourists add a touch of diversity to this event rooted in village life.

The Minervois at Your Fingertips

The day of the car boot sale is also the perfect opportunity to discover or rediscover the Aude Minervois. The village is close to the Canal du Midi, the Gorges de l'Argent-Double, and Cathar sites. Many visitors combine their visit to the car boot sale with a walk through the vineyards or a wine tasting at one of the village's cellars. The richness of Occitan heritage is unveiled during this festive day.

Participate as an Exhibitor

Individuals wishing to set up a stall generally need to register with the town hall or the festival committee of Peyriac-Minervois before the deadline set each year. Pitches are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and the fee remains modest, in keeping with the friendly, non-profit spirit of the event. Entry for visitors is completely free.
