At the end of June, as summer settles over the plateaus of Vexin normand, the town of Gisors hosts its Foire à tout. Individuals and occasional sellers take over the streets and squares of the medieval town for a day of popular sales, offering the contents of their attics, cellars, and storage rooms at bargain prices.

Gisors occupies a strategic position in the Vexin normand, a grassy and wooded plateau stretching between the Epte valley to the east and the Seine to the south. This geographical location, at the eastern edge of Normandy, at the gates of Île-de-France and the neighboring Oise department, gives the town a wide catchment area. The June Foire à tout thus draws visitors from several departments.

Dominated by its imposing 11th-12th century fortress — one of the most important medieval fortresses in Normandy, built by the Norman dukes to monitor the border with the French royal domain — and by the Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais church with its remarkable Renaissance portals, Gisors offers an exceptional architectural setting for all its popular events.
