Car boot sale on the slopes of the Croix-Rousse, the iconic neighbourhood between Lyon's 1st and 4th arrondissements
Every September, the slopes of the Croix-Rousse host a car boot sale that takes over the sloping streets and traboules of this iconic neighbourhood linking Lyon's 1st and 4th arrondissements. In this vibrant district, heir to the canuts culture, private sellers and small dealers offer their finds in a unique bohemian and creative atmosphere.
The slopes of the Croix-Rousse — the steep terrain running between Lyon's 1st and 4th arrondissements — host a September car boot sale that perfectly matches the spirit of the neighbourhood. In the cobbled alleyways and characteristic nooks, hundreds of private sellers and small traders display clothing, books, vinyl records, posters, reclaimed furniture, ceramics, costume jewellery and objects of all kinds.
The Slopes of the Croix-Rousse are one of Lyon's most vibrant and beloved neighbourhoods. Nestled between the Presqu'île and the Croix-Rousse plateau, they bring together a community of students, artists, craftspeople, families and shopkeepers. The famous traboules — covered passages through the buildings — are one of Lyon's most distinctive heritage features.
