Every first Sunday of September, the village of Jarnages transforms into a vast space for celebration and bargain hunting. The Patate en Fête event, organized by the association Vivre à Jarnages, combines a large car boot sale with nearly 200 exhibitors and a gourmet celebration of the potato, the king of tubers in the Creuse region. This dual purpose makes the event a unique popular festival, attracting families, bargain hunters, and food lovers from all over the region.

200 Exhibitors in the Village Streets

The car boot sale extends along the Route d'Aubusson and through the village streets, offering a substantial route for bargain hunters. Nearly 200 exhibitors, both private individuals and professionals, offer an eclectic assortment of items: country furniture, tableware, books, toys, vintage clothing, tools, trinkets, and collectibles. The scale of the event caters to all tastes and budgets, from the discerning collector to the casual browser looking for a good deal.

The Potato Takes Center Stage

The gastronomic dimension of Patate en Fête sets this event apart from traditional car boot sales. Food stalls offer perfectly fried fries, grilled meats, Limousin potato pie, fondue, crepes, and ice cream. The potato, cultivated on the Combraille plateau for centuries, is celebrated in all its forms.
