A spring bargain hunt in a green setting in south-east Avignon
Each spring, the wooded park of the Saint-Chamand Castle hosts a friendly vide-grenier in a working-class neighbourhood of south-east Avignon. The Parc du Château de Saint-Chamand vide-grenier is one of the endearing spring events of south-east Avignon. Held in the wooded park surrounding the former Saint-Chamand Castle — today a community centre — this event brings together neighbourhood families, exhibitors from nearby communes and bargain hunters from central Avignon.
Saint-Chamand is a social housing district built in the 1960s in south-east Avignon, beyond the ramparts. Despite its challenging reputation, it is also rich in community life and cultural diversity. The vide-grenier embodies this friendly dimension.
The castle park, with its tall trees and pathways, offers a pleasant setting. Typical vide-grenier goods: second-hand toys, children's clothing, crockery, small appliances, books, comics, vinyl, board games and sporting goods.
The 2026 edition of the Saint-Chamand Castle Park vide-grenier took place on Sunday 22 March 2026, in the heart of the south-east district of Avignon. Neighbourhood residents and exhibitors from surrounding communes brought the park's pathways to life throughout the day in a friendly, spring-like atmosphere. An edition marked by strong participation from local families.
Spring in Avignon kicked off gently with this 2026 edition. From early morning, exhibitors — mostly neighbourhood residents — set up under the park's tall trees, offering children's clothing, toys, crockery, books and small appliances.
The community refreshment bar was a hit all day, giving browsers a friendly break. See you in spring 2027.
