Summer car boot sale in the village of Orelle in the upper Maurienne Valley
The Orelle car boot sale is a summer event held in this small village of the upper Maurienne Valley, Savoie. This day dedicated to browsing and bargain hunting brings together village residents, holidaymakers and passing visitors in a relaxed, authentically mountain atmosphere.
Orelle provides a spectacular natural setting for this car boot sale. Located at 900 metres altitude, the village overlooks the Arc valley and faces the snow-capped peaks of the Vanoise massif. Sellers' stalls offer a wide range of items: clothing, toys, books, crockery, ornaments, sports and mountain equipment, tools and decorative objects.
Orelle is best known to skiers as the southern gateway to the 3 Vallées domain, the world's largest linked ski area. The Orelle cable car takes skiers directly to Val Thorens. In summer, the village reveals its authentic charm: narrow lanes, stone houses, fountains, baroque chapels and old barns.
The upper Maurienne is a territory of wild, preserved beauty, at the gates of the Vanoise National Park. From Orelle, hikers can access magnificent trails leading to altitude lakes, flowering alpine pastures and grandiose glacier panoramas.
