The Réderia: a Picardy word, a living tradition

The word "réderie" is a linguistic particularity of Northern France and more precisely of Picardy. Derived from the Picardy "rédeux" (one who rummages, who searches), it designates what is called elsewhere a flea market or vide-grenier. Place de la Mairie, the natural gathering point of Cavillon, welcomes exhibitors from the early hours of Sunday. Stalls are set up and very quickly the heart of the village becomes a vast open-air market.
