The profits support the educational and social projects carried out by these two structures for the benefit of the region. Free entry.

The annual car boot sale of Villeneuve-de-Berg

Each year in the spring, generally in April, two essential players in the social and educational life of Villeneuve-de-Berg join forces to organize the town's annual car boot sale: the MFR (Maison Familiale Rurale) and the CSC La Pinède (Centre Socio-Culturel). This partnership between a work-study education structure and a social center reflects the rich and committed associative fabric of this small town in southern Ardèche.

The car boot sale brings together private sellers and visitors in a friendly and popular atmosphere. The stalls offer a wide variety: clothing and accessories for all ages, furniture and decorative items, crockery and kitchen utensils, books and magazines, used toys and games, tools and various equipment, trinkets and everyday objects. The month of April, with its mild and sunny days characteristic of the Ardèche spring, provides a pleasant setting for this outdoor event.

The MFR of Villeneuve-de-Berg

The Maison Familiale Rurale (MFR) is a private school under contract that practices work-study pedagogy: young people divide their time between the educational institution and partner companies or farms. Rooted in rural areas, MFRs support young people in their vocational training while maintaining strong links with families and the local agricultural and artisanal world.

The MFR of Villeneuve-de-Berg is part of this tradition of rural and local education. Its involvement in organizing the annual car boot sale reflects the community dimension of these institutions, which are not limited to training young people but also contribute to the economic and social vitality of their region.

The CSC La Pinède

The Centre Socio-Culturel La Pinède is a local facility that offers residents of Villeneuve-de-Berg and its region cultural, educational, leisure, and social integration activities. Community centers play an essential role in the cohesion of rural areas by providing accessible spaces and services for everyone, regardless of age or social situation.

The CSC La Pinède animates the daily life of Villeneuve-de-Berg through workshops, outings, reception services, and festive events like this annual car boot sale. The profits generated from stall rentals contribute to the funding of projects carried out by both organizations for the benefit of the canton's residents.

Villeneuve-de-Berg, cantonal capital

Villeneuve-de-Berg is a commune of about 3,000 inhabitants and a cantonal capital in southern Ardèche, located on the plateau du Coiron, at the junction between the volcanic landscapes of the north and the limestone garrigues of southern Ardèche. Founded in the 13th century as a medieval bastide, the town has retained its characteristic grid plan and fortified church. It is the main service and commercial center for the many surrounding villages.

The Coiron plateau, formed by basalt lava flows from the Ardèche volcanoes, offers landscapes of stark beauty, with its vast expanses dominated by basalt organs and panoramic views of the Cévennes and the Alps. Villeneuve-de-Berg is also known as the birthplace of Olivier de Serres (1539-1619), the father of French agronomy, whose Pradel estate is located within the commune.

For visitors and sellers

Entry is free for visitors. Private sellers wishing to participate can contact the MFR or the CSC La Pinède for registration details. It is advisable to check the exact dates with these organizations before traveling.

Villeneuve-de-Berg is accessible from Aubenas (about 15 km southwest via the D558) and from Montélimar (about 30 km northeast via the D107 and D558). The town has parking at the entrance to the town and a commercial center that invites you to extend your visit after the car boot sale.
