Car boot sale of Ascension weekend in the Dombes
The car boot sale of Saint-Étienne-sur-Chalaronne is traditionally held during the Ascension weekend, in May. This timing on a public holiday makes it an attractive event, as visitors can take advantage of the long weekend to combine treasure hunting and a stroll in the Dombes countryside.
Saint-Étienne-sur-Chalaronne is a commune in the Dombes, a natural region of the Ain department characterized by its hundreds of ponds, its gastronomy, and its exceptional biodiversity. The village is located near Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne, one of the most beautiful medieval towns in the Dombes. The Chalaronne river, which flows through the village, adds to the charm of the place.
The car boot sale takes place outdoors in the village center. Private exhibitors offer a variety of items: furniture, tableware, clothing, toys, and trinkets. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, perfect for a walk among the stalls. Admission is free for visitors.
From Villefranche-sur-Saône, take the D936 towards Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne then turn towards Saint-Étienne-sur-Chalaronne (about 25 minutes). From Bourg-en-Bresse, follow the D936 towards the southwest.
Free parking in the village.
