About Valdériès Easter Flea Market

Every Easter Sunday, Valdériès lives one of its finest days of the year with its spring flea market combined with a traditional fair. The village centre comes alive at dawn and, true to local tradition, breakfast is served with tripoux — the emblematic regional dish. An event combining bargain hunting, rural gastronomy, fair and conviviality in a village of the north-east Tarn, on the edge of the Carmausin.

Easter at Valdériès, a festive tradition

In many Tarn villages, Easter Sunday is a highlight of the local calendar. In Valdériès, the tradition takes the form of a flea market combined with a fair, both run by the village festivities committee. Deeply rooted in community life, the event draws a loyal crowd year after year, from Valdériès and nearby villages, to share this festive spring moment.

A culinary specialty: Easter tripoux

The distinctive feature that gives Valdériès's flea market a reputation beyond its area is its tripoux breakfast tradition. This emblematic dish of the Rouergue and north-east Tarn — little parcels of stuffed mutton tripe cooked slowly — is enjoyed here from morning, around 8am, in the spirit of village celebrations. Eating tripoux for breakfast on Easter Sunday is a truly authentic experience that sets this event apart from all other flea markets in the department.

Flea market and traditional fair

Alongside the flea market, the day also includes a fair — a set of more traditional stalls: local producers, craftspeople, travelling traders. This dual dimension greatly widens the offer for visitors, who can hunt for secondhand goods, buy regional products or discover local specialities. Valdériès village centre, alive from 8am to 6pm, thus offers a real festive gathering that goes well beyond a simple Sunday market.

What you can find on the flea market side

On the flea market side, sellers — mostly private individuals — offer the usual spread: clothing for children and adults, toys, crockery, books, comics, records, small furniture, tools, decoration items, trinkets. Regulars know that gems are plentiful at this kind of rural spring flea market, where people really do clean out their attics after winter.

Valdériès, a north-east Tarn village

Valdériès is a commune in the north-east Tarn, about 15 km north-east of Albi, on the edge of the Carmausin and Ségala. The village lies in a rural area shaped by its mining past (close to Carmaux) and by northern Tarn landscapes: wooded hills, cultivated valleys, small Romanesque churches. Coming to the flea market is a chance to discover this part of the department — less visited than the Tarn valley but rich in authenticity.

Valdériès Easter Flea Market — edition 2026

The Valdériès Easter flea market took place on Sunday 5 April 2026 (Easter Sunday), 8am to 6pm in the village centre. The traditional formula — flea market, fair, tripoux breakfast — once again won over locals and visitors of the north-east Tarn, confirming the event's place in the local spring calendar.

Looking back at the 2026 edition

The 2026 Easter flea market took place on Sunday 5 April in the centre of Valdériès. True to tradition, the day started at 8am with the tripoux breakfast, gathering regulars coming to taste this emblematic dish in the friendly festive morning atmosphere.

Private sellers and producers then filled the village all day long. Flea market exhibitors showed a fine array of goods — clothing, toys, crockery, books, trinkets — while the fair stalls let visitors discover regional products and artisan creations. The volunteer-run refreshment stand and catering allowed bargain hunters to make the day last in the typical rural atmosphere.

The 2027 rendezvous will again be scheduled for Easter Sunday, keeping the traditional formula.
