Charitable car boot sale organized by parents of students in a small village of Aubrac in Aveyron, near Laguiole
Every year in June, the Parents' Association (APE) of Soulages-Bonneval organizes its car boot sale in the village center of this small village in Aubrac, in Aveyron. Perched at about 860 meters above sea level, Soulages-Bonneval is a rural commune of barely 300 inhabitants, nestled between the vast pastures and forests of the Aubrac plateau, just five kilometers from Laguiole, famous for its knives and cheese. The event takes place in an authentic and preserved setting, where the pure air of the high plateaus accompanies strolls between the stalls.
All profits from the car boot sale are donated to the municipal school of Soulages-Bonneval. In a village of this size, every associative initiative counts to maintain school life and offer children enriching activities: educational outings, shows, educational materials, and class projects. The APE, the driving force behind local school life, mobilizes parents and volunteers to make this day a success, year after year.
The exhibitors, mainly individuals from the village and surrounding communes, offer a wide variety of items on their stalls: clothes and shoes for the whole family, toys and board games, books and comics, crockery and decorative items, small furniture, baby equipment, and other attic treasures at low prices. A refreshment stand and light catering are usually offered by APE volunteers, in the warm and family spirit that characterizes events in the small villages of Aubrac.
Located in the north of Aveyron, Soulages-Bonneval is part of the community of communes Aubrac, Carladez et Viadène. The village charms with its authenticity and its preserved rural heritage. Those looking for curiosities can take advantage of their visit to discover the Grenier de Capou, an exhibition space of over 1,000 m² dedicated to the traditional rural life of Aubrac, gathering more than 12,000 unusual objects. The surrounding landscapes, between flowery meadows, dry stone walls, and beech forests, offer an exceptional natural setting for a Sunday getaway combining treasure hunting and discovery of the Aveyron terroir.
