May 8th Car boot sale in the center of Balazé, 350 exhibitors
On May 8th, a public holiday, Balazé (35500) hosts its annual car boot sale in the village center. With 350 exhibitors, it is one of the most important flea market events in the Pays de Vitré. Stalls line the streets and squares, offering clothes, toys, books, dishes, tools, trinkets, furniture, vintage items, and various finds. The public holiday encourages a large turnout, with families taking advantage of this early May break for an outdoor treasure hunt.
Balazé, a town of 2,300 inhabitants, is ideally located 5 km north of Vitré, a sub-prefecture of Ille-et-Vilaine. The village, surrounded by hedgerows, retains a rural authenticity that contrasts with the economic dynamism of the Vitré region. The May 8th car boot sale is one of the highlights of the year, attracting locals as well as bargain hunters from Fougères, Laval, and the Rennes metropolitan area.
Entry is free. Food and drink stands – crepes, sausage galettes, beverages – are available along the route. Parking is organized on the outskirts of the village.
