Annual car boot sale in the park of the Château de Brouay, organized by the association On Aime Brouay
Every May 1st, the park of the Château de Brouay opens its doors to treasure hunters for a car boot sale organized by the association On Aime Brouay. In an exceptional rural setting, between 50 and 100 private exhibitors offer their second-hand items to visitors who come to enjoy this public holiday outdoors.
The Château de Brouay is located in the new commune of Thue et Mue, in Calvados. This commune, born from the merger of several villages including Brouay, Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse and Le Mesnil-Patry, is located in the Caen plain, about fifteen kilometers west of the Lower Normandy capital. The tree-lined park of the castle, accessible by the route d'Audrieu, offers a green and shaded setting that is particularly pleasant for a spring car boot sale.
Launched a few years ago by the association On Aime Brouay, the castle car boot sale is in its 5th edition in 2026. The event has quickly found its audience, attracting treasure hunters from Caen and the entire Bessin region. From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., the park alleys transform into a maze of colorful stalls where you can find everything: clothes, toys, books, dishes, trinkets, small furniture, and decorative objects.
The association's volunteers ensure the catering and refreshments throughout the day, with coffee offered to exhibitors upon arrival. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, in the spirit of a village festival where visitors take their time to stroll among the stands and enjoy the exceptional setting of the park.
