The 2025 edition of the Vide-Grenier de Carnoux-en-Provence took place on May 1st in the town center of this unique commune, the youngest in Bouches-du-Rhône, founded in 1966 by repatriates from North Africa. Individuals and families gathered for a friendly day of bargain hunting in this town nestled between Aubagne and Cassis, in the shadow of the Notre-Dame d'Afrique church and its unique memorial heritage in France.
On May 1st, 2025, the Vide-Grenier de Carnoux-en-Provence once again enlivened the streets of this commune with an exceptional destiny in the Bouches-du-Rhône. The inhabitants of this town created ex nihilo in 1966 to welcome French repatriates from North Africa gathered in the town center for a day of outdoor bargain hunting, perpetuating the spirit of conviviality and solidarity that has characterized Carnoux since its foundation.
The stalls offered a wide range of items: crockery and pottery, books and records, clothing for the whole family, toys, decorative knick-knacks, and small furniture. The Provençal setting of Carnoux-en-Provence, perched between 181 and 382 meters above sea level in its valley between Aubagne and Cassis, provided a pleasant backdrop under the May sun. Not far from the stalls, the Notre-Dame d'Afrique church and its Black Madonna, a replica of the one in Algiers, recalled the unique history of this community built by the Pieds-Noirs.
The Vide-Grenier de Carnoux-en-Provence will return on May 1st, 2026, for a new edition in this unique commune in France, where the memorial heritage of exile blends with the Provençal art of living.
