The fishing gear fair in the Somme valley
Fishing gear fairs are a specialist niche with a loyal community. The Somme is the perfect department for it: ponds, navigable river sections, old marshes turned into lakes make it a major playground for coarse, predator and carp fishing.
A full range of second-hand fishing gear: rods (all techniques), reels, lines, hard and soft lures, spoons, flies, hooks, weights, floats, landing nets, tackle boxes, technical clothing, waders, carp bivvy gear, sonars, dry baits, books and magazines, sometimes collectible items.
Vaux-sur-Somme is a small town of about 900 inhabitants between Corbie and Albert. Known to anglers for its privileged environment: the Somme forms arms, ponds and wetlands home to rich fish life (pike, zander, perch, carp, tench, roach).
Fishing fairs gather a tight community where info exchange (water levels, spots, techniques) matters as much as buying-selling. Exhibitors are mostly anglers themselves.
Early April is ideal for anglers preparing the new season: pike opening, first warm days for carp, general fish activity.
On Saturday 11 April 2026, Vaux-sur-Somme hosted its annual fishing gear fair. Exhibitors, mostly anglers themselves, offered rods, reels, lures, lines, waders, bivvy gear and accessories. Visitors enjoyed attractive prices to prepare the new season.
Technical discussions, always plentiful, animated the day. The fair once again fulfilled its role as a meeting place for Picardy anglers.
