Hunt for treasures on August 15th at the foot of Salagou

An unmissable summer event in the heart of Hérault, the August 15th flea market in Octon (34800) takes over Place Paul Vigne d'Octon and Avenue des Platanes for a full day of outdoor treasure hunting. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., exhibitors offer antique furniture, tableware, trinkets, tools, books, and curiosities. The spot is free for village residents (or €5) and costs €10 for external exhibitors, with no prior registration required.

Octon, a village of character at the gates of Salagou

Perched on a basalt promontory overlooking the red lands of Salagou, Octon is a village of about 500 inhabitants attached to the community of communes of Clermontais. Its medieval streets, Romanesque church, and panoramas of Lake Salagou make it a popular holiday destination. On August 15th, the flea market is part of the village's summer festivities, with bars and restaurants on the square offering refreshments and food throughout the day.

The ACCA of Octon participates in organizing this festive day. The flea market benefits from the tourist influx to Salagou in mid-August to attract visitors and holidaymakers looking for finds. The shaded setting of Avenue des Platanes offers welcome coolness in the height of summer, and the café terraces allow for extended browsing over a cool pastis.
