Vendée commune of around 7,500, from the merger of Talmont and Saint-Hilaire-de-Talmont. Famous for its emblematic medieval château, a fortress linked to Richard the Lionheart who stayed here in the late 12th century. Partly ruined, beautifully enhanced, it hosts historical shows in summer — a top Vendée coastal site.
