June bargain hunting at the Solliès-Toucas boulodrome
Solliès-Toucas, a rural commune of the Gapeau valley neighbouring Solliès-Pont and Belgentier, cultivates a quintessentially Provençal way of life. Nestled between wooded hills and olive groves, the village holds its June flea market at the boulodrome every year, a loyal rendezvous for hunters from the canton and Toulon area.
Vendors are mostly private sellers from the village and surrounding hamlets. A wide range of items: crockery and porcelain, vintage linen, books, toys, clothing, small furniture, trinkets, tools, garden gear and decor. Some stalls hide real surprises — old Provençal pieces, santons, glazed pitchers, 70s records — witnesses to several generations of local life.
As often in Provence, the boulodrome is the heart of the village. A petanque court the rest of the year, it becomes a bargain-hunting venue for the day: stabilised ground, shade from surrounding trees, plenty of space. An ideal setting ensuring smooth flow.
The mood is relaxed, negotiations friendly, and you'll meet long-time Toucassins alongside early-season holidaymakers from the coast. The association stand and snack bar add a warm touch.
After browsing, visitors can continue exploring the Gapeau valley: Solliès-Pont fig orchards, Solliès-Ville's medieval heritage, Baou massif trails, Bandol AOC wine tastings.
