The 2025 season of the Solidarity Book Sale of Hérouville-Saint-Clair took place every first Saturday of the month at Centre Jean XXIII, 270 avenue du Connétable. Organized by the Departmental Council of Calvados of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, this charity sale offered nearly 18,000 used books covering all literary genres, as well as comic books, CDs, vinyl records, stamps, and old postcards. With the "buy one novel, get one free" offer, bibliophiles from the Caen metropolitan area could build their library at a lower cost while supporting the SSVP's food distribution in Calvados.
Throughout 2025, the Centre Jean XXIII in Hérouville-Saint-Clair hosted the solidarity book sale organized by the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Calvados every first Saturday of the month. Reading enthusiasts could browse an impressive catalog of nearly 18,000 books, from crime novels to classic literature, including science fiction, poetry, history, and children's books.
Beyond books, bargain hunters also discovered comic books, music CDs, vinyl records, collectible stamps, and old postcards. The "buy one novel, get one free" offer has retained a large audience, from students to retirees, in this second-largest town in Calvados, located at the gates of Caen.
The proceeds were entirely donated to the sixteen food distribution points of the SSVP in the department, directly contributing to aid for people in need. The solidarity sale will resume in 2026 at the same location, every first Saturday of the month from 9 am to 5 pm.
