Sewing and crafting flea market organized by the Amis de la Marche association at the Maison du Temps Libre in Fouday
The Fouday Sewing Flea Market is an eagerly awaited annual event for sewing, knitting, embroidery, patchwork and craft enthusiasts from across Alsace and the Vosges. Organized by the association Les Amis de la Marche, it takes place at the Maison du Temps Libre in Fouday, a small village in the Bruche valley located about sixty kilometers south-west of Strasbourg. For one day, dozens of exhibitors offer an entire world dedicated to thread, needle and creative imagination.
At the stands, visitors discover a very rich selection of fabrics (cottons, linens, jerseys, furnishing fabrics, coupons, scraps), vintage and modern haberdashery (mother-of-pearl buttons, ribbons, lace, trimmings, bias tape, snaps), yarns, embroidery threads, sewing patterns, tools, second-hand sewing machines, embroidery kits and scrapbooking supplies. Many exhibitors unpack their personal stocks accumulated over the years.
The association Les Amis de la Marche, organizer of the event, is a local association whose proceeds support various cultural and social activities in the Bruche valley. The event attracts many visitors each year from across the Grand Est region.
Fouday is a charming village of about 300 inhabitants located in the Bruche valley. Famous for its 12th-century Protestant parish church, which houses the tomb of pastor and philanthropist Jean-Frederic Oberlin, the village is a place of memory and spirituality.
