The Rothau en Fête Car Boot Sale is the major summer event of the Bruche Valley, in the Alsatian Vosges. Organized every August 15 by the Rothau en Fêtes association, it transforms the entire village of Rothau (67570) into a huge bargain-hunting ground. The 2026 edition will take place on Saturday, August 15 from 8 AM to 5:30 PM (from 6 AM for exhibitor setup). About 130 private exhibitors take over the village streets offering dishes, clothing, toys, books, furniture, trinkets, and souvenirs. Breakfast, refreshments, and catering provided by association volunteers. Free admission for visitors.
A village celebration in the heart of the Bruche Valley
The Rothau en Fête Car Boot Sale is one of the largest car boot sales in the Bruche Valley. Every August 15, all the streets of Rothau transform into a vast market avenue where bargain hunters and visitors can stroll all day looking for good deals. Organized by the Rothau en Fêtes Association, this event brings together the local population and attracts visitors from all over the valley, from Strasbourg, and even from the neighboring Lorraine Vosges.
130 exhibitors throughout the village
With its 130 private exhibitors (sometimes more than 150 depending on the edition), the car boot sale extends over the entire village center. Visitors can find a wide variety of items: children's and adult clothing, toys, board games, books, dishes, kitchen utensils, small furniture, decoration, trinkets, DIY and tools, sports equipment, records, video games. The layout in the village streets offers a particular charm, between the Alsatian and Vosgian houses and small shaded squares.
Rothau, gateway to the Alsatian High Vosges
Located in the heart of the Bruche Valley, halfway between Strasbourg and Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, Rothau is a commune of about 1,600 inhabitants, a historic cantonal capital. The village is located at the foot of the Alsatian High Vosges and offers a remarkable natural setting with its forests, hiking trails, and the Bruche river that crosses it. Rothau is notably known as the gateway to the former Struthof (Natzweiler) concentration camp site and for its industrial heritage. The village also preserves a rich religious and architectural heritage.
An associative and friendly organization
The Rothau en Fêtes Association mobilizes many volunteers to make this event a real village celebration. Beyond the car boot sale, the day is punctuated by the breakfast offered from 6 AM to early arrivals, by a refreshment stand and lunch with Alsatian specialties. The profits help finance other events organized throughout the year in the village. A family and warm atmosphere typical of small Alsatian villages.
