Sèvres-Anxaumont Anguillettes Fair

A festive tradition

The Anguillettes Fair is Sèvres-Anxaumont's annual flagship event. A commune of c. 3,300 inhabitants, 12 km east of Poitiers in the Grand Poitiers urban area. On the first Sunday of May, the village becomes a popular festival combining flea market, village fête, music, local traditions and fireworks. 2026: Sunday 3 May.

The flea market, heart of the event

The flea market fills Place Sadebria and adjacent streets. Almost entirely private sellers, set-up from 6 am, vehicles allowed next to stalls. Very attractive rate: €1 per linear metre, paid on site. Accessible format welcoming residents and neighbours from nearby communes.

Much more than a flea market

It's also the Saint-Jean Festival, setting the day's tone:

The name evokes anguillettes, small eels once caught in local rivers — a culinary and rural tradition rooting the event in Poitou history.
