The placomusophile meet in Poitou
A champagne capsule exchange turning 25 in 2026 is remarkable. Bignoux, a small Greater Poitiers commune, has become a known placomusophile rendezvous for western France's collectors. The 25th fair runs Sunday 14 June 2026.
Placomusophilia is a popular French collection with tens of thousands of enthusiasts. Each capsule (muselet plate) is unique: house name, decorative pattern, sometimes serial number or limited edition. Tens of thousands of references — one of the richest, most affordable collections.
Main logic is not classic buying but collector-to-collector swaps: doubles, missing, rare pieces traded. Sales also happen, with prices from cents (common) to hundreds of euros (rare).
About 1,100 inhabitants 10 km east of Poitiers in the Poitou countryside. Rural heritage (Romanesque church) and capital-proximity make a pleasant setting. Also has an annual flea market — active community life.
Poitiers (15 min). Chauvigny medieval town (20 min). Saint-Savin UNESCO abbey (40 min).
Curious non-collectors: a great entry point — placomusophiles love sharing knowledge. Start a collection cheaply (a few euros for 30 capsules). Bring an album or box for first finds. Fairs are learning as much as trading spots.
