About Salernes Friday Flea Market

Every Friday 10am-6pm, the Cours Théodore Bouge in Salernes hosts a weekly flea market in this village famous for its ceramic tradition. Run by the city, it draws locals and high Var visitors. Notable edition on Friday 2 January 2026, opening the year in the Provençal pottery village.

A flea market in the village of tomettes

Salernes, a small high Var village in the Provence Verte, is world-famous for its ceramic and terracotta tradition, especially its hexagonal tomettes that have paved Provençal floors for centuries. Its heritage gives the village a unique identity, upheld by around twenty active ceramic workshops.

The weekly Friday flea market on Cours Théodore Bouge, the main plane-lined avenue, adds lively animation. The Friday 2 January 2026 edition opens the year of this peaceful tradition.

An unusual day

Unlike most Var flea markets, Salernes' takes place on Friday with extended hours 10am-6pm. The choice suits village life and lets visitors combine hunting with galleries, markets and restaurants.

  • old ceramics, tomettes, Salernes faience
  • Provençal crockery, tians, tureens
  • old linen, embroidery, textiles
  • books, old magazines, postcards
  • small rustic furniture, chairs, stools
  • old tools, Provençal farming objects
  • curios, santons, collectibles
  • costume jewellery, lamps, frames

Salernes, village of earth

Beyond the flea market, Salernes deserves a full visit: Terra Rossa centre, open workshops, art galleries, and the renowned Wednesday market. A perfect base to explore a hidden Provence.

An exceptional environment

The high Var with its perched villages (Cotignac, Villecroze, Tourtour), vineyards and gentle landscapes offers a magnificent backdrop. Salernes is an ideal base for this more secret Provence, far from coastal bustle.
