Spring flea market in the medieval village of Rodes, in the heart of the Lower Conflent in the Pyrenees-Orientales
The Rodes Flea Market is a small, friendly gathering held in this charming medieval village in the Lower Conflent, dominated by the ruins of its 11th-century castle. This spring event brings together residents and bargain hunters around private stalls where you can find antiques, clothing, toys, dishes, books and attic treasures. In an authentic setting just a few kilometers from Vinca and Ille-sur-Tet, it's an opportunity to discover a typical Conflent village while browsing in the fresh air.
The Rodes Flea Market is a small human-scale event that fits perfectly into the authentic setting of this Lower Conflent village. Far from large urban flea markets, this event retains a friendly village spirit where exhibitors and visitors take time to exchange. Stalls are run mainly by residents of the village and nearby towns who empty their attics and offer objects, clothing, toys, books, dishes, knick-knacks and small furniture. It's an ideal event for lovers of authentic browsing and for those who enjoy discovering off-the-beaten-path places.
The beauty of this flea market also lies in its exceptional setting. Rodes is nestled at the foot of a limestone ridge, dominated by the ruins of its 11th-century castle built by the Count of Cerdagne. Browsing in this historic setting, with the Canigou massif and the green valleys of the Tet in the background, gives this event a special dimension. Exhibitors set up their stalls outdoors, enjoying the mild spring of the Catalan climate, which makes for a particularly pleasant day.
Participating in the Rodes flea market is also an opportunity to discover or rediscover the Conflent, the fertile Tet valley that stretches between the Roussillon plain and the Canigou massif. The region is known for its medieval villages, Romanesque abbeys, hiking trails and local produce. In Rodes itself, you can taste craft beers produced on site with organic ingredients, or visit the Papy Bernard apiary which produces different honeys according to seasonal flowering. A circular 8 km hiking trail takes you through the surrounding scrubland with the Canigou in the background.
Rodes is a commune of around 600 inhabitants located in the Lower Conflent, near Vinca and Ille-sur-Tet. A former medieval stronghold of the Tet valley, the village retains its authentic charm with its narrow streets and stone houses. The castle, perched on its rocky promontory, recalls the strategic role of Rodes in the Middle Ages. Today, the village offers a peaceful living environment, sheltered from outside nuisances, and charms visitors with its heritage and natural landscapes.
The Rodes Flea Market takes place on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 8am to 2:30pm in the medieval village of Lower Conflent. Private stalls outdoors. Free entry.
