Ris-Orangis, a changing southern suburb
Ris-Orangis is an Essonne commune of around 28,000 inhabitants, in the southern inner suburbs of Greater Paris, along RER D. A former industrial town, it has transformed into a mixed residential community. Close to Évry-Courcouronnes and the vast Sénart regional forest (3,200 hectares), it offers a blend of urban convenience and natural surroundings.
A town-run flea market
The municipal flea market is organised by the Town Hall's Service Vie des Quartiers (34 rue de la Fontaine). Between 150 and 200 private sellers fill the town-centre avenues. Fee: €6 for 2 linear metres or €10 for 4 linear metres. Prior registration is mandatory. Free entry for visitors.
