Spring car boot sale organized by the firefighters in the heart of the Jura plateau
Every spring, the Amicale des Sapeurs-Pompiers of Chaux-des-Crotenay organizes its flea market and car boot sale in the center of this village on the Jura plateau. The event takes place from 6 am to 6 pm, offering a long day of treasure hunting for both early birds and afternoon strollers.
The profits from the event are donated to the Amicale des Pompiers, which finances its social activities and equipment. Pitches are available for 2 euros per linear meter, allowing many exhibitors to participate. The stalls offer a mix of flea market finds and items from individuals: crockery, trinkets, books, toys, clothes, and various objects.
Chaux-des-Crotenay is a village of about 400 inhabitants located at an altitude of 700 meters on the first plateau of the Jura, between Champagnole and Nozeroy. The village, crossed by the river Lemme, is surrounded by spruce forests and meadows typical of the Jura landscape. It is a historic site famous for having been identified by some researchers as the possible location of the Battle of Alesia.
The amicale des pompiers manages the event's logistics with a refreshment stand and a food stall. The atmosphere is warm and good-natured, driven by the spirit of mutual aid and solidarity that characterizes volunteer firefighters in rural areas.
