May 1st, Aniane lives to the rhythm of its Giant Flea Market

Aniane (34150), a wine-growing village nestled in the Hérault valley at the foot of the Gorges du Pont du Diable, transforms every May 1st into a huge flea market. More than 400 exhibitors take over the Pré de la Ville sports complex to offer furniture, trinkets, clothes, toys, records, and curiosities of all kinds. The crowds are considerable: families, seasoned bargain hunters, and strollers throng the aisles from the opening at 6 am.

Aniane, between vineyards and Hérault gorges

Founded around a Benedictine abbey in the 8th century, Aniane preserves a remarkable architectural heritage with its Romanesque church and shaded alleys. The village is the gateway to the Gorges de l'Hérault, a UNESCO World Heritage site for the Pont du Diable. The vineyards of the Terrasses du Larzac surround the town, giving the May 1st flea market an exceptional natural setting. After the hunt, visitors can extend their day with a stroll along the Hérault river.

A well-organized and festive event

The Comité des Fêtes d'Aniane orchestrates this event with professionalism. Pitches are offered at €15 for 4 meters or €25 for 8 meters (vehicle included). Registrations for Aniane residents open first, then to the general public from February 15th. Refreshment stands, food stalls, and the traditional sale of lily of the valley complete this festive and popular day.
