Marseille institution for flea market finds at Cap Pinède, mixing antique dealers, second-hand dealers, and open-air sales since 1988
The Puces de Marseille, established in 1988 on the former Alsthom industrial site at Cap Pinède, is the largest flea market in the South of France. Spread over 4 hectares with 17,000 m² of commercial space, over 1,000 exhibitors welcome more than 100,000 visitors each week. The site includes a gallery with about forty antique dealers, a professional consignment store of 1,300 m², a bistro, and a vast outdoor sales area. Antique shops are open from Tuesday to Sunday, while second-hand dealers and sellers are present on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30 AM to 2 PM. Entry is free.
A true Marseille institution, the Puces de Marseille are much more than just a flea market: they are a universe in themselves, a living space where seasoned bargain hunters, passionate collectors, strolling families, and curious tourists cross paths. Located at Cap Pinède, in the 15th arrondissement, this flea market is the most important in the South of France and one of the largest in Europe.
The Puces de Marseille have a long history. Once located at the quai de Dunkerque, the market suffered from chaotic organization, with thousands of exhibitors scattered over kilometers of streets. After a period in the industrial zone of La Palud, it was the closure of the Alsthom factory in 1987 that finally provided a worthy site. Since 1988, the flea market has occupied this 4-hectare plot at Cap Pinède, with 17,000 m² of commercial space. The site has continuously developed to become a true open-air shopping center, rooted in the living heritage of the Phocaean city.
At the heart of the site, the Galerie des Antiquaires brings together about forty specialized shops, open from Tuesday to Sunday. You can find antique furniture, Provençal decor, lighting fixtures, tableware, paintings, and art objects carefully selected by professionals. Upstairs, a professional consignment store of 1,300 m² offers a constant renewal of quality items. The flea market's bistro, located within the gallery, provides a friendly resting spot for shoppers.
It is on the weekend that the flea market truly comes alive. Every Saturday and Sunday, from 7:30 AM to 2 PM, over a hundred second-hand dealers and sellers fill the outdoor aisles around the gallery. You can find everything: vintage furniture, retro clothing, vinyl records and cassettes, antique jewelry, books, tools, trinkets, and curiosities of all kinds. Sunday is the busiest day, with around 30,000 visitors strolling, coffee in hand, between the stalls.
The Puces de Marseille are easily accessible via the main roads in the north of the city. The Big Foot parking lot, located nearby, offers free and spacious parking for visitors. The site is also accessible by public transport from the city center. Entry to the market is free, making the flea market a popular family outing accessible to everyone.
The Puces de Marseille are open all year round, from Tuesday to Sunday. Antique shops welcome visitors from Tuesday to Sunday from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM. The outdoor market for second-hand dealers and sellers takes place on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30 AM to 2 PM. Monday is a closing day. Entry is free and open to all.
Puces de Marseille continues its permanent activity in 2026 at Cap Pinède. Antique dealers, second-hand dealers, and open-air sellers from Tuesday to Sunday, 17,000 m² of commercial space, free entry.
