Solidarity car boot sale of L'Outil en Main association, transmission of craft skills to children, in Millas
The L'Outil en Main Millas association organizes its annual car boot sale to support its actions for transmitting craft and traditional skills to children. Volunteers, retired craftsmen and professionals, introduce young people aged 9 to 14 to manual trades (carpentry, masonry, sewing, electricity, cooking...) during weekly workshops. This March car boot sale, organized in the Ribéral in the heart of the Têt valley, helps finance the purchase of tools and equipment for young apprentices.
The L'Outil en Main association of Millas organizes its annual car boot sale in a solidarity and educational approach. L'Outil en Main is a national network of associations that introduce children aged 9 to 14 to manual and craft trades, supervised by tradespeople who are retired or still working. Carpentry, masonry, sewing, electricity, plumbing, cooking, gardening: the weekly workshops allow young people to discover the richness of manual trades and develop their dexterity. The profits from the car boot sale directly finance the purchase of tools, materials, and equipment for the workshops.
Millas, a Catalan commune located 10 minutes from Perpignan on the right bank of the Têt, is one of the main towns of the Ribéral. Mentioned as early as 985 under the name of Villa de Milliariis, the town developed thanks to the fertility of its lands: early fruits, olive oil, and wines still constitute its flagship products today. In the 13th century, the parish belonged to the du Vernet family, then passed to the counts of Empúries. Unlike other villages that remained linear, Millas adopted the traditional circular shape of Catalan villages.
The L'Outil en Main Millas car boot sale is held in March and brings together private exhibitors, village residents, and bargain hunters from the surrounding area. Beyond the bargain hunting, it is an opportunity to concretely support a beautiful community initiative that perpetuates the transmission of manual trades to younger generations. A friendly, useful, and Catalan day, in the solidarity tradition of Roussillon villages.
L'Outil en Main Millas car boot sale, Sunday, March 8, 2026, to benefit the workshops for transmitting skills to children aged 9 to 14.
