The major community flea market of southern Yvelines, run by the OSASC association
Organised by OSASC (Omnisports Arts et Spectacles de Culture), the Boinville-le-Gaillard flea market brings together around a hundred exhibitors on a Sunday in September in this rural village on the southern plateau of the Yvelines department. With nearly thirty editions behind it, it has become a key event for bargain hunters from the Hurepoix region, who appreciate its friendly atmosphere, on-site refreshments and countryside setting.
For almost thirty years, the OSASC association has organised its autumn flea market in Boinville-le-Gaillard, a small rural village of six hundred inhabitants in the south of the Yvelines department. This event, now a classic on the local calendar, is one of the most eagerly awaited gatherings of the year in this village on the Hurepoix plateau, between Dourdan and Rambouillet.
The strength of this flea market lies in its deep local roots: it is a grassroots event run by villagers for their community, where private exhibitors and visitors mingle in a laid-back atmosphere. Visitors will find the typical offering of a country flea market: furniture, crockery, toys, books, clothing, tools and decorative objects, as well as occasional treasures unearthed from the attics of the surrounding farms.
OSASC is the driving force behind community life in Boinville-le-Gaillard. The proceeds from the flea market help fund the other events run by the association throughout the year. Every visitor who attends the event therefore contributes to maintaining the social and cultural fabric of this small rural community.
Held within the village, the flea market attracts bargain hunters from Dourdan, Ablis, Rambouillet and sometimes even from neighbouring Essonne. Exhibitors set up in the early hours of the morning, and the first deals are often struck before the official opening. Throughout the day, a bar and snack stand allow visitors to make the most of their time in a cheerful atmosphere.
Boinville-le-Gaillard is located some thirty kilometres south-west of Versailles, on the border of Yvelines, Eure-et-Loir and Essonne. The village sits amid the open landscape of the Beauce plain. For visitors coming from further afield, the flea market is a great opportunity to discover the Rambouillet forest, the nearby chΓ’teau or the neighbouring villages of Ablis and Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines.
