The great charity flea market of the Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul parish, Rue Viala in Niort
The Niort parish flea market is a charitable event rooted in the life of the Saint-Hilaire quarter. Each June, Rue Viala, facing the beautiful Church of Saint-Hilaire, transforms into an open-air sales space where parish volunteers offer items donated by parishioners and local residents. All proceeds go to parish charitable works.
Open to the public on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm, the parish flea market offers a wide choice of items at very modest prices: furniture, crockery, household linen, clothing, books, decorative items and ornaments. The quality of donations often means genuine gems can be found at unbeatable prices.
Before the flea market, the parish organises several donation collection sessions at the Salle Viala on Tuesdays 26 May, 2 and 9 June, and Thursdays 28 May and 4 June, from 3pm to 5pm.
The Church of Saint-Hilaire, opposite which the flea market is held, is one of the jewels of Niort's religious heritage. Built in the 12th century and remodelled over the centuries, it overlooks the quarter of the same name, one of the oldest and most charming in Niort.
The parish flea market is much more than a simple sale: it is a moment of meeting and conviviality that brings Niort residents together. The tireless and smiling volunteers welcome each visitor with generosity.
