Festive car boot sale during the New Wine Festival on the Place de la République in Caux
The New Wine Festival in Caux (34720) is the occasion for a large car boot sale that takes over the Place de la République and the alleys of the medieval circulade. From 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., up to 100 exhibitors offer trinkets, clothes, toys, crockery, books, and flea market items. A 5-meter pitch costs €10, and entry is free for visitors. The atmosphere is festive and gourmet, fueled by primeur wine tastings from Caux winemakers.
Perched on a hill overlooking the Hérault wine plain, Caux is a fortified village of about 2,500 inhabitants, famous for its remarkable circulade — a perfectly preserved medieval concentric plan. Surrounded by vineyards producing wines under the AOP Pézenas and IGP Pays d'Oc appellations, the village lives to the rhythm of the vine. The New Wine Festival extends this tradition by celebrating the arrival of the new vintage each autumn.
The event is co-organized by Les Chats Libres de Caux, an animal protection association, and the local branch of the Souvenir Français. Profits from the refreshment stands and on-site catering support the actions of these associations. The festival also features musical entertainment and a local producers' market, making this day a highlight of village life.
