The atmosphere is peaceful and cheerful, reflecting this quiet village surrounded by nature.

Munchhausen, a natural village on the Rhine

Munchhausen is a small commune in the Bas-Rhin of around 700 inhabitants, located in the canton of Wissembourg, on the border with Germany. The village is famous for its exceptional natural heritage: it is crossed by the Sauer river which flows into the Rhine nearby, and it shelters the remarkable Sauer delta, classified as a nature reserve, one of the last great alluvial areas in Western Europe. The alluvial forests, oxbow lakes, reed beds and wet meadows offer a setting of wild beauty that attracts hikers, naturalists and nature lovers.
