Car boot sale organised by the Beinheim Sports Club, a border village on the Rhine in northern Bas-Rhin
The Beinheim Sports Club Car Boot Sale is organised each summer by the village sports club, which mobilises players, coaches and volunteers to welcome exhibitors and visitors. The proceeds from pitch rentals and catering go entirely to the Beinheim Sports Club to fund equipment, travel and the activities of its various sections. Private exhibitors display from the morning a wide variety of items at low prices: clothing, shoes, toys, soft toys, board games, books, CDs, DVDs, trinkets, crockery, tools, gardening articles and decorative objects.
Beinheim is a village of around 2,000 inhabitants located in the far north of the Bas-Rhin department, just a few hundred metres from the Rhine and the German border. The village is part of the Seltz canton and lies between Seltz and Lauterbourg, in a rural and peaceful area. The Rhine, natural border between France and Germany, provides a remarkable landscape setting with its alluvial forests, oxbow lakes and exceptional wildlife. The proximity of Germany gives the village a cross-border character: many German visitors from the neighbouring Palatinate attend local events, including the Sports Club car boot sale.
The Beinheim car boot sale takes place in a family-friendly and warm atmosphere. Bargain hunters browse the stalls in search of great deals, while children enjoy the space to play. The refreshments and catering offered by the sports club volunteers — grills, chips, tartes flambées and drinks — contribute to the festive atmosphere of this summer day on the banks of the Rhine.
