Bargain hunting at the heart of the Salvagnacois patronal festival
Every summer, the village of Mézens, in the northwest of the Tarn between Salvagnac and Rabastens, hosts its flea market combined with the village patronal festival. Organised by the festival committee, the event turns the village square into a bargain-hunting alley with around 50 private exhibitors. An authentic and friendly rendezvous of the Salvagnacois, between festive tradition, music and popular flea market.
In Mézens, a small rural village in the northwest Tarn perched on the Salvagnacois hills, the village festival is the social event of the summer. Organised by a very involved local festival committee, it brings together for a whole weekend the inhabitants of the commune and surrounding villages around country meals, popular balls and traditional animations. The Saturday morning flea market has become one of its most anticipated highlights.
Set up on the village square and in the adjacent streets, the flea market gathers around 50 private sellers mainly from Mézens and neighbouring villages. It's an opportunity for residents to clear out attics, barns and cellars, and for visitors to find at low prices rural furniture, tableware, linen, tools, books, toys, clothing, old records and peasant curios. The atmosphere is intact, as in yesteryear's village flea markets.
Mézens belongs to the Tarn-Agout community of communes, in a region of hills and forests where peaceful agriculture dominates: cereals, vine (Gaillac is close), sunflower and mixed farming. This peaceful rural setting gives the flea market its authentic flavour.
The flea market is part of the broader patronal festival programme, which traditionally continues in the evening with a community meal, a ball or a concert.
The Mézens festival committee invites you on Saturday August 22nd, 2026 to the village square for the traditional flea market integrated into the patronal festival. Around 50 private exhibitors expected for a summer day of bargain hunting in the heart of the Tarn Salvagnacois, extended by the evening festivities.
Mézens is 30 km northwest of Toulouse and 35 km southwest of Albi, accessible via the D630 or D999. Parking in the village. Nearby villages: Salvagnac, Rabastens, Saint-Sulpice-la-Pointe.
Around 50 private exhibitors. Registration with the Mézens festival committee.
Drinks and food run by the festival committee. Community meal possible in the evening depending on programme.
