Flea market during the Messti of Marmoutier, a village famous for its Romanesque abbey
The Marmoutier Messti flea market takes place in this Alsatian town famous for its 6th-century Romanesque abbey, one of the oldest in Alsace. The Messti, a traditional patron saint festival, brings together dealers, bargain hunters and villagers in the streets of Marmoutier. Located on the Romanesque Route of Alsace between Saverne and Wasselonne, the village attracts visitors and heritage enthusiasts.
Marmoutier is known throughout Alsace for its Romanesque abbey, founded in the 6th century by Irish monk Saint LΓ©obard. The Romanesque facade of the abbey church, with its three towers and pink Vosges sandstone, is one of the jewels of the Romanesque Route of Alsace.
The Messti of Marmoutier is a highlight of village life. The flea market is part of this traditional festival: visitors browse furniture, crockery, ornaments and antique items in the town streets while enjoying fairground rides, music and Alsatian gastronomy β sauerkraut, baeckeoffe and bredele.
The Marmoutier Messti flea market takes place on Sunday, September 6, 2026 in the town center. Free entry.
