Two annual sales in a north Vendée marsh village
Soullans, Breton Vendée marsh village between Challans and Saint-Jean-de-Monts, hosts two spring garage sales in 2026: Sunday 31 May (Les Roseaux school, OGEC) and Sunday 14 June. Community atmosphere, bar and food, in the authentic setting of a marsh village.
Soullans is a Breton Vendée marsh village between Challans and Saint-Jean-de-Monts. 2026 sees two sales weeks apart: Sun 31 May (Les Roseaux school OGEC) and Sun 14 June — two chances for northwest Vendée hunters and early holidaymakers.
The Les Roseaux school sale (OGEC, Catholic education management) is a village tradition. Proceeds fund school activities, trips and materials. Parents and teachers run welcome, food and entertainment. The 14 June edition follows a similar format with booking required by 9 June.
~4,000 inhabitants. Typical marsh village: canals, yoles, wet meadows, bourrines (reed-thatched marsh houses). Home to Le Daviaud, Breton Vendée marsh eco-museum on traditional marsh life. Pont d'Yeu (natural curiosity) nearby.
Soullans people are Maraîchins — traditional headdresses, flat-bottomed boats for the canals, local food (eel, country ham, mogettes, galipote). The sale fits this active village life in an authentic preserved area.
Challans (10 min), Saint-Jean-de-Monts beaches (20 min), Le Daviaud eco-museum, Sallertaine artists, Notre-Dame-de-Monts, marsh canals. Île de Noirmoutier 30 min (Gois passage at low tide).
