Annual flea market of Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne on Place du Champ de Mars
The Annual Flea Market of Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne is one of the most popular spring events in southern Seine-et-Marne. Organized on the iconic Place du Champ de Mars, at the heart of this new town which brings together Moret-sur-Loing, Écuelles, Épisy, Veneux-les-Sablons and Montarlot, it attracts numerous private exhibitors and thousands of bargain hunters each year who come to enjoy the medieval charm of this impressionist city at the gates of the Fontainebleau forest.
Every spring, Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne becomes the scene of a large flea market that transforms the Place du Champ de Mars into a vast open-air flea market. This friendly event, which has become a local tradition, brings together individuals and bargain hunters in the exceptional setting of a city rich in history, classified among the most beautiful villages on the banks of the Loing and dear to the painter Alfred Sisley who spent the last years of his life there.
Place du Champ de Mars occupies a central position in Moret-sur-Loing, the delegated commune that has given its soul to the whole. Bordered by old houses, a few steps from the fortified gates of Burgundy and Samois, it offers exhibitors and visitors alike a warm and authentic setting. Tables and stalls are deployed under the watchful eye of medieval facades and centuries-old trees, creating an incomparable atmosphere that distinguishes this flea market from more anonymous events in commercial areas.
Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne was born in 2015 from the merger of several towns: Moret-sur-Loing, Écuelles, Épisy, Veneux-les-Sablons, joined by Montarlot in 2016. This administrative union brings together nearly 12,000 inhabitants and covers a territory of great diversity, between the Fontainebleau forest, the Loing valley and the agricultural plains of Brie. The flea market, a unifying event, perfectly illustrates the spirit of this new town which seeks to create links between the inhabitants of its various villages.
On the Place du Champ de Mars, exhibitors unpack a varied range of everyday items, childhood memories and more unusual pieces: clothing, toys, books, tableware, vinyl records, small furniture, trinkets, tools, DIY equipment, sports items. The flea market is the perfect opportunity to find the rare pearl at very accessible prices, but also to stroll, exchange with exhibitors and enjoy the spring atmosphere of a small town steeped in history.
Visitors from afar will not fail to extend their day with the discovery of the exceptional heritage of Moret-sur-Loing: the Burgundy gate, the Samois gate, the Notre-Dame church, the banks of the Loing immortalized by Alfred Sisley, and of course the famous nuns' barley sugar factory, established in Moret since 1638 and still in operation. A few kilometers away, Fontainebleau and its royal castle ideally complete an escape to southern Seine-et-Marne.
The flea market takes place on Sunday April 19, 2026 on Place du Champ de Mars, in the center of Moret-sur-Loing. Free admission for visitors. Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne is accessible from Paris by Transilien line R (Moret-Veneux-les-Sablons station), and by the A6 or N6 by car.
