The covered winter bargain hunt of Les Festayres de Lizac
The committee Les Festayres de Lizac organises its winter flea market at the village hall, in the heart of Tarn-et-Garonne near Moissac. A day of indoor bargain hunting, ideal in cold season, with private vendors, true village spirit and on-site catering. An original event that opens the brocante season in February in the area.
Lizac is a small Tarn-et-Garonne commune located a few kilometres north-west of Moissac, in the lower Tarn valley. With its village fabric and very active festivities committee — Les Festayres de Lizac —, the village maintains a rich community life all year round. The winter flea market, held every February at the village hall, is one of the highlights of the cold season for Tarn-et-Garonne bargain hunters.
The event benefits from a fully covered format: the Lizac village hall, with a surface area of 290 m², can host a good twenty private vendors sheltered from cold and winter weather. This indoor configuration is precious in February, when few communes dare to organise a flea market. It is one of the rare early-season gatherings in the Moissac-Castelsarrasin area.
Family bric-Ã -brac, adult and children's clothing, toys, crockery, books, vinyl records, comics, small furniture, decorative items: the diversity remains typical of a rural flea market, with as a bonus some pieces coming out of attics during the great winter sort-out. Vendors come mainly from Lizac, Moissac, Castelsarrasin and surrounding villages. A good opportunity for regular bargain hunters to find unusual treasures before the big spring events kick off.
Les Festayres de Lizac, the village's festivities committee, take pride in offering a friendly and warm event. The refreshment stand and food corner are provided on site, with sandwiches, coffee, tea, hot soup in deep cold, and always some homemade pastries. The atmosphere is family-friendly and village-style, in the pure spirit of Tarn-et-Garonne rural events.
The flea market opens early in the morning and an early arrival remains ideal for seasoned bargain hunters. Wrap up well if the weather is harsh — the hall is heated but people come and go frequently. Free parking in the village and around the hall. Take the opportunity to explore the lower Tarn valley and the heritage of Moissac (Saint-Pierre abbey, UNESCO-listed Romanesque cloister) just a few minutes away.
