The Cadours car boot sale is held every year at the end of August as part of the famous Purple Garlic Festival, the commune's flagship product benefiting from a PDO. Free entry, entertainment and catering on site.
Every year at the end of August, the village of Cadours celebrates its emblematic product, the purple garlic of Cadours PDO, during a colorful and flavorful festival. In this festive setting, a car boot sale is organized on Sunday morning by the association Lectures et Découvertes, offering visitors the opportunity to combine the pleasures of treasure hunting and Gascon gastronomy.
Purple garlic from Cadours is the only French garlic to benefit from a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). Cultivated for centuries on the clay-limestone hillsides of Savès, it is distinguished by its characteristic purple skin, its sweetness, and its exceptional shelf life. The festival dedicated to it attracts thousands of visitors each year who come to discover this treasure of the Gascon terroir.
The car boot sale takes place in the streets of Cadours from 8 am on Sunday morning. Private sellers offer second-hand items, clothing, toys, and trinkets to early morning bargain hunters, while the Purple Garlic Festival festivities are in full swing all around. A producers' market, tastings, musical entertainment, and cooking competitions liven up the village throughout the weekend, creating a unique atmosphere combining treasure hunting and local produce.
A small Gascon village located about fifty kilometers northwest of Toulouse, Cadours is the undisputed capital of purple garlic. Its exceptional terroir, its rolling landscapes, and its rural heritage make it a popular destination for lovers of local products. The car boot sale at the Garlic Festival offers an additional reason to discover this authentic and preserved corner of Gascogne.
