The Bois de Cise Brocante: bargain hunting in a unique site of the Picard Coast

Bois de Cise is not a seaside resort like any other. Perched on the cliff between Mers-les-Bains and Ault, this discreet enclave of the commune of Ault hides, under the cover of a beech and pine forest that descends to the sea, about a hundred Belle Époque villas built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Each early August, Ault's festival committee organizes a brocante that takes full advantage of this exceptional setting.

An exceptional summer event

Rare are the flea markets that take place in such an enchanting setting. Here, stalls are set up in the shade of the foliage, exhibitors rub shoulders with villas in millstone, brick and wood.

What to find

We find more patinated objects here, old books, postcards from the early century, Belle Époque crockery, small holiday furniture, lamps, sometimes old costume jewelry.

Ault and Bois de Cise: a unique pair

Ault is a commune of the Somme planted on the chalk cliffs at the end of the French Opal Coast. Bois de Cise, a few kilometers to the north, is one of its hamlets, a former seaside colony imagined at the end of the 19th century.

Extending the visit

After the bargain hunting, going down to Ault or Mers-les-Bains beach is essential. The Ault cliffs offer one of the most striking panoramas of the coast.
