Solidarity bargain hunting in the Belle Époque resort
Mers-les-Bains is one of France's most beautiful Belle Époque seaside resorts. With its 600 polychrome villas, it forms with its neighbor Le Tréport a listed architectural ensemble. The Amicale des Sapeurs-Pompiers of Mers-les-Bains organizes each mid-August its annual flea market on a prairie in the resort.
The volunteer firefighters invest with their families to welcome exhibitors and visitors. Benefits contribute to financing the association's activities.
Individual dominant stalls and some professionals: clothing, toys, books, crockery, linen, garden furniture, beach equipment. Seaside tone more marked than elsewhere.
Commune of 2,900 inhabitants at the limit between Picardy and Normandy. Pebble beach, seafront promenade, funicular to Le Tréport.
