May 8th charity flea market in Ault, organised by the parents' association
The Ault Parents' Association holds its annual flea market on Friday 8 May 2026 along rue de Saint-Valéry in Ault. On the Picard coast between cliffs and English Channel, this charity event raises funds for school activities in the commune. A rendezvous combining bargain hunting, support for school life and the discovery of one of Somme's finest coastal sites.
Like many association-run brocantes, the Ault event has a clear purpose: raising funds for the Ault Parents' Association (APE). Profits fund school trips, educational projects, classroom supplies and end-of-year gifts in the commune's schools. Taking part as seller or visitor directly supports local children. A fine reason to add this 8 May rendezvous to your calendar.
The flea market stretches along rue de Saint-Valéry, the central artery of the town extending from the seafront inland. Private sellers and dealers set up from early morning with clothing, toys, books, tableware, trinkets, collectibles, small furniture and varied bric-à-brac. The street is closed to traffic for safe browsing from stall to stall, often under the bright spring sun of the Picard coast.
Ault is one of Somme's most endearing seaside resorts. Perched on cliffs overlooking the Channel, it offers a spectacular panorama over the sea and pebble beaches. Once a fishing village, it grew into a Belle Époque resort with its 19th-century villas, church and typical lanes. The neighbouring hamlet of Onival extends the resort southwards with its wild beach and colourful beach huts. Ault and the Bois de Cise form a remarkable listed natural ensemble.
May 8th is often an ideal day to visit Ault: a public holiday, springlike, perfect for combining the flea market, a beach walk and lunch at a seaside restaurant. Inland visitors from Amiens or Abbeville spend the morning browsing and afternoon enjoying the sea air. Ault's restaurants, fishmongers and seafront terraces round out the programme.
The Ault APE flea market is not a huge event like the Abbeville or Saint-Valéry braderies. It is a neighbourhood gathering, friendly and family-oriented, run by volunteer parents and relatives. Stop, chat, support the cause, find a few nice pieces at low prices. A pleasant moment among the little spring joys of the Picard coast.
