Montreuil's neighbourhood flea market, with live music and a bar
In Montreuil's dense associative fabric, the Charton & Autour Flea Market holds a special place. Organised every year by the Charton & Autour association, this event brings together residents of rue Désiré Charton, rue Léontine Préau and the wider neighbourhood for a day of flea market, music and conviviality.
Rue Désiré Charton and rue Léontine Préau transform every June into a long corridor of private vendors' stalls. Between 50 and 100 vendors offer clothing, furniture, books, records, toys and all kinds of objects. The market is held outdoors, in a lively residential part of central Montreuil, a few minutes from Croix de Chavaux metro.
What sets this flea market apart is its unabashedly festive atmosphere: concerts are programmed throughout the day, and the association's bar, run in partnership with the local Croix de Chavaux brewery, animates the alleys. It feels more like a street party with a flea market than a simple commercial event.
