An Ascension Flea Market in a Historic Mining Village

Every Ascension Thursday, the Place Jean-Baptiste Deville and the multi-purpose hall of Bosmoreau-les-Mines host the traditional flea market organized by Les Amis du Musée. This event brings together private and professional exhibitors, with outdoor stands in front of the town hall and indoor stands in the multi-purpose hall, offering shelter in case of bad weather.

The Mining Heritage of Bosmoreau-les-Mines

Bosmoreau-les-Mines owes its name and identity to the coal mining that animated the commune for nearly two centuries, from 1784 to 1958. The Mining Museum, inaugurated in 2003 in the former school buildings, retraces this history through seven exhibition rooms: miner's tools, period photographs, models, and testimonies. The Mining Trails allow visitors to discover the former open-air extraction sites.

The Rail-Bike, the Commune's Star Attraction

The Mining Rail-Bike uses the old railway line that was used for coal transport, offering a 10-kilometer round trip between Bosmoreau and Bourganeuf. This original family activity crosses tunnels, bridges, and undergrowth in the Thaurion valley, discovering the industrial and natural heritage of this sector of the Creuse.

Les Amis du Musée, Guardians of Mining Memory

The association Les Amis du Musée works to preserve and promote the mining heritage of Bosmoreau-les-Mines. The Ascension flea market is one of their flagship events, contributing to the financing of museographic activities and the animation of the village. Refreshments and on-site catering are provided by the association, with the possibility of booking paellas.
