200 sellers on Avenue Darblay, late May in Mennecy, Essonne RER D town
Mennecy (91540) is an Essonne commune of around 13,000 residents, served by the RER D (Mennecy station). Situated between Corbeil-Essonnes and Évry-Courcouronnes, it has a central position in the southern Essonne living basin. Its territory is marked by the Château de Villeroy — once a ducal property whose park is now a public green space — and by a persistent market-gardening tradition in the surrounding plains.
The town hall directly organises the Spring Grande Braderie every last Sunday of May. With around 200 sellers spread across the Avenue Darblay — the main artery linking the Gare roundabout to the Parc de Villeroy roundabout — the braderie takes on the feel of a major popular event each year. The avenue is closed to traffic for the occasion, creating a festive pedestrian space over several hundred metres.
RER D (Mennecy station) or by car from Évry (15 min, N7), Corbeil-Essonnes (10 min), Paris (40 min). Parking near the station and residential streets. Avenue Darblay closed to traffic on the day.
Arrive at opening (7:30-8:30am) for best finds. Bring cash, large bags, a trolley. Negotiating is standard. Sellers: contact town hall at 01 69 90 80 68.
