Sunday rendez-vous on chemin de Bagatin
Grimaud, medieval hilltop village overlooking the Saint-Tropez gulf, is one of the emblematic communes of the southern Var. Between its ruined feudal castle, paved alleys, Romanesque church of Saint-Michel and the lakeside town of Port-Grimaud, it blends medieval heritage, Provençal art of living and modern resort. It is in this privileged setting, on chemin de Bagatin, that one of the gulf's weekly Sunday chinage dates takes place.
The Mas de Bagatin brocante runs on a recurring model, every Sunday all year. This continuity builds a faithful clientele and a stable exhibitor ecosystem. The partly shaded Mediterranean setting is especially welcome in summer.
Diversity rules : antique and vintage furniture, Provençal tableware, ceramics and pottery, glassware, old linen, regional books, old postcards, vinyl records, toys, marine and decorative items. Mediterranean-lifestyle objects appear regularly : wicker baskets, jars, Provençal kitchen utensils, nautical decor. That local tone sets Bagatin apart.
The public reflects the gulf's tourist nature. Low season is mostly local – Cogolin, Gassin, Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Tropez. In season, French and international holidaymakers fold in, hunting in the morning before beach. That mix keeps the market lively.
Arrive early in summer. Cash. One to two hours. Combine with hilltop Grimaud or Port-Grimaud, Provence's 'little Venice'.
